About Us

The multimedia staff produces and provides information for City of Wisconsin Rapids departments using multimedia tools such as videography, photography, writing, reporting and graphic design. Materials created by the staff are used in City newsletters, blogs, news-releases, Facebook, Twitter, City Website and WRCM outlets.  The staff also provides a place and training for non-profits, and local residents to share information, promotion and entertainment by filming and producing their own media program. As time permits, the multimedia coordinator assigns to volunteers who are registered through WRCM projects/events that are requested by nonprofit organizations, local governments or schools.

Government Meeting Coverage 

Hired freelancers film and produce coverage of municipal meetings outside the City of Wisconsin Rapids business.  Meeting videos can be submitted for no charge. 

How are we funded
Cable operators provide channel capacity to municipalities, as compensation to for their use of public rights-of-ways: streets, highways, parks and other government-owned property. This compensation provides access to media for local residents. Wisconsin Rapids City residents who purchase cable TV pay a monthly franchise fee (5%) which was adopted by the council to fund us. Other local governments in our viewing area may collect a franchise fee, but use the fee towards their general fund and not WRCM directly.  If you want your community to support community media, please contact your local government officials to ensure local coverage. This will help ensure coverage of local programming continues in the community you live in and provide an openness to local government.
